Pride & Joy: Annual LGBTQ+ Community Art Celebration

Come celebrate queer family, creativity, and community with us during Austin Pride weekend! Under the artistic leadership of Wanda Montemayor, LPC-S, ATCS, ATR-BC, RPT-S (she/her) and Zachary Van Den Berg, LPC, ATR-BC (he/they), and Bead It business owner Ashley Schor - this all-ages art event invites participants to create, connect, and play together in a vibrant, welcoming space.

Centered on themes of identity, belonging, and pride, this event offers healing-centered art activities for kids, teens, adults, caregivers, and chosen family. Whether you're painting with a loved one, or exploring new ways to express yourself, there’s something here for everyone. Local LGBTQIA+ artists, activists, and community leaders will also be joining us throughout the day to share resources, performances, and opportunities to stay connected and inspired beyond the event.

Featured Art Activities

Jewelry-Making

• Make your own necklace, bracelet, or keychain using colorful beads, letters, and charms. Choose colors from your favorite pride flag or spell out words that matter to you. This is a fun way to celebrate your story and make something special to wear or share.

Screen Printing

• Use real screen-printing tools to design a custom image for this event. You can bring your own fabrics or print on our tote bags, shirts, bandanas, or we will provide paper for you to print on! Take home a colorful creation or gift to a friend or loved one!

Mosaic-Making

• Help build a community mosaic using ceramic tiles that you will customize for a large scale community mural in Austin, TX. Each person adds something unique to this big artwork—just like we all bring something beautiful to our community. No experience needed—just your imagination!
