About this Event
Join us at Goat House Farm on April 19 for a practical, beginner-friendly clinic focused on preparing goats for breeding season. This class is designed for newer goat owners who want to understand what happens before breeding, why preparation matters, and how the choices you make ahead of time can affect the health of your herd and the success of your breeding season.
We will talk about flushing, which is the practice of increasing nutrition before breeding to help support reproductive performance. We will also cover body condition, timing, and the basic management steps that help does go into breeding season in better shape. In addition, we will discuss how to choose a buck, what traits to think about, and why pairing decisions matter for both herd goals and future kids. Come learn from from our mistakes :)
As part of the clinic, we will also demonstrate the use of CIDRs as we prepare our seasonal breeders for breeding. CIDRs are intravaginal devices that contain progesterone and release it at a controlled rate. They are used in breeding programs to help synchronize estrus and support more controlled timing for breeding management. We will explain what they are, show how they are used, and explain why we choose to include them in our own breeding plans.
This clinic is meant to make breeding season feel less overwhelming and more understandable, especially for people who are just getting started. Whether you are planning your first breeding season or trying to build a better system for your herd, this class will give you a clearer picture of what to do before the buck ever meets the doe.
Due to limited hands-on space and preparation costs, tickets are non-refundable. You may transfer your registration to another participant or future clinic with prior notice.
