About this Event
Two-Day Online Workshop, Three Hours Per Day
In our post-pandemic, technology-driven society, touch deprivation is ubiquitous. Yet positive touch is a universal human need, helping to connect us to the organic intelligence of our bodies.
Join pioneering somatic psychotherapist Dr. Aline LaPierre in a lively workshop exploring NeuroAffective Touch®, a neurologically informed, integrative approach to healing developmental trauma that blends psychotherapeutic skills with the use of gentle touch to create a vital bridge to body-mind healing.
In this experiential workshop, Dr. LaPierre provides an overview of her methodology and leads various NeuroAffective Touch® self-practices to provide participants with a felt sense of how individuals and clinicians can use this approach to heal body-mind disconnections. Dr. LaPierre’s workshop introduces a new way for psychotherapists and somatic practitioners to support clients struggling to heal developmental trauma or complex PTSD because of early mis-attunement, neglect, and abuse.
By offering direct communication and support to the body at the nonverbal level where we receive our first imprints, NeuroAffective Touch® can help heal lifelong emotional traumas to reconnect us to the wholeness of our relational matrix.
Dr. Aline LaPierre is the creator of NeuroAffective Touch®. A practicing clinician, author, and teacher, she is currently President of the United States Association of Body Psychotherapy and Editor-in-Chief of the International Body Psychotherapy Journal. She co-authored the bestselling book Healing Developmental Trauma: How Trauma Affects Self-Regulation, Self-Image, and the Capacity for Relationship, which is available in 14 languages.
In the field of psychotherapy, Dr. LaPierre is a graduate of Pacifica Graduate Institute, which intimately connected her with Jungian and archetypal psychologies, and The New Center for Psychoanalysis, focusing on the evolution of psychoanalysis from object relations to relational and intersubjective approaches. Alongside her psychotherapy training, she has trained extensively in body-centered approaches, including Postural Integration, Somatic Experiencing®, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Reichian Therapies, Bodynamics Analysis, Continuum, EMDR, and BodyMind Centering.
Dr. LaPierre is former faculty in the somatic doctoral program at Santa Barbara Graduate Institute and, in addition to directing the NeuroAffective Touch Institute, she maintains a private practice in Brentwood-West Los Angeles.
