Practically Implementing Strategy (Bands 2 -6)

Summary:

Remember the person who cleans the floor at Nasa, and when asked about their job says “I put people on the moon”? Everyone has a part to play in the success of our NHS, see how you can be part of your successful organisation, using your amazing talents to deliver results.

Aim:

The aim of this session is to demystify strategy, turning long-term vision into understandable projects, tasks and activities where you can add value and achieve results.

Objectives:

• Understanding what Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Direction mean and how they are developed and defined.
• Analyse how to build National, system and local vertical and horizontal alignment of systems, processes, culture and policies.
• Apply the learning to build strategic direction into everyday activities.
• Understand how to measure contribution, progress and results so that you see where you fit and the value you add.

Outcome:

By the end of the session delegates will understand how strategy is formed, what it means practically and will be able to see how they personally contribute to success.

Target audience:

This session is aimed at Bands 3-6 in the Emerging Workforce Leaders category.

Prework:

Delegates will need to be familiar with their own organisational People Strategy, or a derivative of this i.e. EDI or L & D / OD strategy. It will aid the discussion in the session if delegates also have access to the wider organisation strategy.

Facilitator

Linda Gent, Senior Coach Practitioner and Director of Ashfold Consulting.

As a CIPD Fellow Linda has considerable senior HR & OD leadership experience in a number of unionised, public and private sector organisations. Experienced in retailing, policing, the NHS and education, recently teaching on the CIPD qualifications programme and undertaking a range of consultancy services for various clients. Linda is a fervent advocate of developing people within the workplace, using her Executive coaching qualification in both formal and informal settings. With the ability to work both strategically and tactically, Linda has headed up operational HR and Learning and Development teams across the NHS, leading change and making impactful improvements.Linda was highly commended in the Engaging Excellence Category in the 2023 National Facilitator awards.
