Cinderella: Widely regarded as one of the most popular and longest-running stage productions to date, Prabhath Kalavidaru’s Cinderella has been staged over 1,000 times across India since its premiere in 1978.
Cinderella is a grand musical dance-drama. To create a truly magical spectacle, the Prabhath team incorporated advanced stagecraft, ranging from UV lighting to sophisticated 3D holograms.
By introducing unique Indians to this classic fairy tale's characters, the troupe successfully gave the Western story a distinct Indian soul.
The production boasts a massive musical legacy. Rooted in the enchanting original compositions of the legendary Mysore Ananthaswamy, the music was beautifully revived for modern audiences by Praveen D. Rao. This extraordinary score is elevated further by the iconic, soul-stirring vocals of the late Dr. S. P. Balasubrahmanyam. Choreographed by the celebrity Hema Prabhath, this dance drama is directed by the visionary legend T V Gopinathdas.
Today, the play continues to be revived by Harrish Prabhath and the newer generations of the family. It stands as a nostalgic cultural touchstone and a shining example of Bengaluru's enduring love for the performing arts, capturing the hearts of multiple generations who grew up watching the magic unfold on stage.
