PRAAZ : "Harmony in Diversity" is our new project focussing on bringing together a collective of established musicians to play a unique blend of cross-cultural music.
The music is conceptualised and written by Praaz (Praashekh Borkar) who is predominantly an Indian Classical Sarod player with over 28 years of performance experience globally. He will be featuring the traditional Sarod and the Esarod (an instrument he invented) as the main lead instruments creating a strong bond to the Hindustani Raga tradition.
In this musical journey, listeners will get to experience multi-cultural sounds and instruments such as the Sarod, Esarod, Tabla, Didgeridoo, Drums, Darbouka, Thammattama and many more all coming together creating Harmony in Diversity.
On Tabla - We have Isuru Perera who has recently moved to Perth all the way from Sri Lanka! Along with the Tabla, Isuru also plays the Darbouka and Congas and many other percussion isntruments.
On Bass - We have Devanarayan Venugopal joining us with dynamic and energetic vibe . Dev also doubles up as a brillaint Singer lending his voice to our tracks that require it.
On Keyboards - We have Skandha Shanthakumar joining us for the first time at the Ellington Jazz Club! Excited to have him on board with us bringing his new creativity to the band. Skandha also plays the acoustic guitar and will be moving from Keys to the Guitar for some of our pieces.
On Drums - Joining us for the first time at the Ellington Jazz Club - We have Joel Drieberg - An upcoming young and energetic drummer who needs no introduction. Excited to welcome him with us as well!
