About this Event
Carers Scotland and Standard Life are pleased to invite you to an event to explore how we can work with a range of organisations to raise awareness of power of attorney in Scotland, and across the UK.
Research published earlier this year highlighted worryingly low levels of public awareness and understanding of power of attorney. As part of our existing partnership, Carers UK, Carers Scotland and Standard Life are joining forces to build a campaign to raise awareness and combat myths and misconceptions around power of attorney.
We want more people to know about and understand the benefits of power of attorney, and to be talking about it with people they trust. We want people to be doing this in good time, not at a time of crisis. Many organisations already provide fantastic advice and support on power of attorney, and we’re pleased to building on the work of previous Scotland-specific power of attorney campaigns.
Accordingly, this January we’re inviting experts and senior representatives from statutory partners, specialist charities, financial institutions and other relevant organisations in Scotland to:
- Share and discuss their experience of promoting power of attorney to their stakeholders.
- Talk about the positive role a better uptake of power of attorney could have on key services – from finance through to health and care.
- Discuss what would make this campaign a success.
We’ll be hearing from the Office of the Public Guardian (Scotland), as well as carers on their own experience of having, and not having, a power of attorney.
We hope you are able to join us for this event, and work with us to help raise awareness about this hugely important topic.
