
About this Event
The Power of 6 is a new film collective of award winning film directors showcasing their latest work at a cinema near you. For its first inauguration, we have six directors, showcasing six films with a run-time of 84 minutes and a 30 minute Q&A , where the audience and the directors will ask each other questions too- our film version of the Graham Norton couch.
We will be showcasing some amazing Oscar, Bafta and BIFA qualifying films.

ILL FARES THE LAND by Patrick Ireland:
Logline: A young boy finds a mermaid washed up on the shores of his seaside home while his older brother is swept up in the rising tide of far-right nationalism.

Patrick's bio: Patrick Ireland a multi-award winning Writer and Director with a diverse portfolio and a vast range of experience in film and television. His credits range from high-end narrative drama, to news and current affairs, to entertainment and reality shows, to commercials and branded content. Also Writer/Director of the films Anonymous: A Million Men (2015), One in a Million (2017), The Director (2018) and Ill Fares The Land (2023).
IN MY DAY by William Grave
Logline: In this black and white drama, Asif is in a loving relationship with his white British girlfriend Michelle. But, the local skinheads from the city and her parents from the countryside aren’t accepting of the relationship. The true reason for their hostility is only revealed at the end.
The BIFA qualifying film premiered on Directors Notes and has been selected for an online screening on Omeleto.

William's Bio: William Grave is a writer director who loves to have the light and the dark, comedy and drama weave and dance with each other- it always makes for a better film. His work has been covered on the BBC, Talk TV and Directors Notes, while picking up award wins at international films festivals including ‘best International short’ at the Tennessee International Independent Film, ‘best director of a short’ at the Love & Hope International Film festival Barcelona best ‘long form short’ at the Skiptown Playhouse International Film festival in LA for his homeless fairytale ‘The Last Jackolantern’ while his mental health drama short ‘Benchmarks’ won best ‘short short’ at the London Independent Film festival, which was later reshared online by Oscar winning actor Riz Ahmed. His most recent film ‘In My Day’ is BIFA qualifying after being selected for a Directors Notes premiere and selected at the North East International film festival, as well as Omeleto online. He is currently in early development on his first dramedy feature film set on the West Coast of Scotland.
X TO X by Lily Gwynne-Thomas
Logline: A housewife attempts to re-connect with her estranged twin, an up and coming actress.
The film was released on Omeleto, and earned an Oscar Qualifying run at Cleveland International (2023), Flickers' Rhode Island International (2023) and DeadCentre (2023)
Lily's Bio: Lily Gwynne-Thomas is a London-based writer-director represented by Independent Talent in the UK. She is drawn to tell stories of identity struggles, particularly within the context of oppressive social norms. She explores this by creating heightened worlds within which characters are torn between their desire for authenticity and their need to conform for survival.
Since shooting X to X, Lily is now working on another short, as well as developing two features. One of which is to be produced by Rapt Films (Maisie Williams & Lowri Roberts). She was also recently selected to take part in an 8 week director's scheme with Sky TV where she directed the 2nd Unit on COBRA season 3 with Robert Carlisle. Lily is a BAFTA Connect member.
RECONSOLIDATON by Abbie Lucas
Logline: After a tragic accident takes the life of his best friend, a grief-stricken introvert copes with the loss using memory-alteration therapy, but he soon learns that some memories don't want to be forgotten.

Abbie’s Bio: Abbie Lucas is a film director based in London, originally from Aotearoa, New Zealand. In 2018, Levile TV listed her as one of the Top 20 Rising Female Filmmakers in the UK. She is a member of Directors UK and Women in Film and Television UK. In 2022 she was invited to participate in the Reykjavik International Film Festival Talent Lab.
As a storyteller, she enjoys stories with flawed relationships, female protagonists, vigilantes, crime, and a bit of magical realism but most of all loves work with strong performances and impactful story lines. She is known for exploring dark themes in ways that are humorous and unexpected.
A PLUS by Michael P. Spencer
Logline: Two dedicated young parents who want only the best for their family, take matters into their own hands and have to agree on what they are willing to do to ensure success.
Michael's Bio: Michael P. Spencer is a biracial Manchester-born filmmaker based in London. Known for his award-winning sci-fi shorts Details to Follow and That Phone Call, his work blends heightened genre storytelling with social commentary and emotional depth. His latest short, A Plus, has screened at top festivals, including Aesthetica and the Pan African Film Festival in LA, winning multiple awards, including the Lily Bond Prize for Best in Festival. As co-founder of The Keep Productions, Michael continues to develop bold, accessible narratives while building toward his first feature.
BOY IN THE BACKSEAT by Scott Pickup
Logline: 1986. A young boy is left unattended in the car while his volatile dad takes care of some ‘business’ in a dodgy local pub. What could possibly go wrong?

Scott's Bio: Scott Pickup is an award winning filmmaker hailing from West Yorkshire with a bold, authentic voice. He has worked in advertising for 15 yrs- writing / directing campaigns for international broadcasters. His short screened internationally, gained worldwide distribution & received multiple awards at BIFA levels events. He recently directed the charity film for the Media Trust, came in the top 1% in BBC Writers and has two features in development. He is currently represented by Imagine Talent.
