Pot Plant Portrait: Watercolour Still-Life
In this relaxed, beginner-friendly watercolour workshop designed for all skill levels, you’ll learn how to paint potted plant portraits from still-life! Bring these quiet characters to life using core painting techniques, so you can build confidence without feeling overwhelmed. Expect a welcoming, social atmosphere, step-by-step guidance, and plenty of one-on-one support. You’ll leave with a finished, matted artwork ready to take home — and the skills to keep painting long after the festival ends. No experience necessary. Just bring your curiosity and enjoy!

ACCESSIBILITY: This location is wheelchair accessible, with a wheelchair accessible, gender-neutral bathroom. We will communicate verbally with members of the public using listening and spoken language in English. Seating in the studio is varied and weight capacities of seating is unknown. About the Artist
Tara is a Vancouver-based watercolour artist inspired by the beauty of nature. Born in Singapore and raised in the UK, she grew up surrounded by crafts and a deep appreciation for the natural world. After working in the film industry as a prop maker, she moved to Vancouver with two suitcases and a watercolour palette gifted by her father — and fell in love with both the city and the medium. Today, Tara balances prop making with her watercolour practice, creating artwork that evokes wonder and serenity. Her goal is simple: to create art that feels joyful, meaningful, and deeply cherished.

Festival Concert in MacLean Park: Festival Concert in MacLean Park: Saturday, July 25 from 3pm - 8pm
Join us at MacLean Park for an afternoon and evening of live music, public art activities, food trucks, and a beer garden from 3:00–8:00 PM. Browse the art shop, take part in free all-ages creative activities, and enjoy performances throughout the day in the park. Come early and make a full day of it by visiting the neighbouring Strathcona Blocks Party from 12:00–5:00 PM on the 800 block of East Hastings, featuring local businesses, free activities, and live performances before settling in for the concert and evening festivities.
This is workshop is part of the vibrant celebration of visual and performing arts of the 6th annual Eastside Arts Festival, where creativity knows no bounds. The Eastside Arts Festival (formerly Create! Arts Festival) is a young and up-in-coming grassroots initiative, bringing together local artists and performers and the community to explore, learn and create art together in the Eastside Arts District.
