About this Event
Visual effects artists help bring impossible worlds and large-scale cinematic moments to life, and FX artists are the specialists behind many of those simulations.
In this 2-week intensive, you’ll start working with Houdini, the professional software used across the film industry for advanced effects work.
During the first week, you’ll explore the software's interface as well as the foundations of procedural visual effects, learning how artists combine motion, logic, and design to build dynamic systems from the ground up.
In the second week, you’ll apply those concepts to a particle-based FX shot, shaping simulations with forces and collisions before bringing everything through lighting and rendering workflows used in modern productions.
This course is ideal for students interested in both creativity and technical thinking, and offers a strong introduction to the world of FX for film and television.
Topics covered: procedural workflows, attributes and groups, VEX & VOP basics, particles, forces, collisions, caching, lighting, rendering, compositing workflows
