About this Event
This session will explore how sound is an essential part of the filmmaking process, and shouldn't be an afterthought. Participants will be shown how post-production audio actually works, why it matters, and how to collaborate effectively.
Led by industry professionals from 6 Degrees Music + Sound Production, this class will be a combination of demonstration and Q&A. By the end you’ll leave understanding the most common mistakes filmmakers make with sound, how to plan your recording and mixing to fit any budget, and what deliverables are expected for festivals, broadcasters, or digital platforms.
This event will run from 10am to noon, but there will be time afterwards to mingle and continue learning.
This class is perfect for producers, directors, editors, film students, and independent filmmakers who want their projects to feel polished and professional.
This event is sponsored by the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers. CSIF was founded in 1978 by a collective of twelve filmmakers who saw the growing need for film resources and film equipment on the traditional Treaty 7 territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Iyarhe Nakoda Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), also known as Calgary, Alberta. Now over 40 years later we are an integral part of the growing cultural community in Calgary and are excited about new collaborations and opportunities.
