In 1998, the Source Magazine voted Stretch and Bobbito as “The Best Hip Hop Radio Show of All Time,“ and in 2023, they were inducted into the . An NYC-native and world-renowned DJ, Bob has spun world, soul and jazz music at legendary venues like Lincoln Center, Central Park SummerStage, and the Smithsonian in D.C.
At a time when much of the world has been forced to ignore the ongoing pandemic, Bobbito Garcia has taken a different approach: Speaking plainly about the risk, our collective responsibility to mask and vaccinate, and the people still being left behind.
His recent appearance on where he acknowledged that the pandemic is not over sparked an outpouring of gratitude from immunocompromised, disabled, and Covid-Realist communities around the world. This mask-required event extends that ethos into a physical space where folks can gather around good music without being asked to ignore reality.
The event will be held at Gabriela in Brooklyn NYC (recently voted the Best New Nightlife Venue by TimeOut New York).
What To Expect:
- An all-vinyl DJ set curated by Bobbito García with guest DJ Tara.
- Masks-required dance floor: KN95+ masks are required and provided for all attendees (18+)
- Sip Valves will be available for installation so that guests can consume drinks with their masks on
- Air purifiers with HEPA filters and Far UVC lamps running in the indoor space
- The capacity inside is 100 people at a time. The entrance, exits, bar, dancefloor, and bathroom are all wheelchair accessible. The mezzanine lounge space can only be accessed by stairs
