Birth partners are welcome and included in the cost. Snacks and tea will be provided. Move Studio is in Bow on Dane Place, E3 5EJ (above Abbott’s off Roman Road).
What we’ll cover:
• Ways to cope with labour (mentally and physically) including breathing techniques, hypnosis/relaxations and why they work, movement/positions, using a TENS/birth ball/water/comb, etc.
• If you have a birth partner, you’re welcome to bring them. We’ll also discuss how you/they can help support you as labour progresses.
• You’ll make a lot of choices around your birth. We’ll discuss how you can make the best choices for YOU, whatever that is. We’ll discuss what informed consent really means, different places of birth and why that changes birth statistics, excellent questions to keep on hand and an easy acronym to help you decide what you want. This workshop is for all births - not just physiological, unmedicated births.
• Understanding what’s actually happening in labour can help you work with your body and not against it. Knowing what your body is doing and what you’re feeling can build your confidence and help you feel better connected to the process. It can also help you to think differently about how you move in labour and how you can reduce strain on your pelvic floor/perineum.
