Port Isaac is a small and picturesque fishing village on the Atlantic coast of north Cornwall and has been an attractive fishing village since the early fourteenth century. Its narrow, winding streets are lined with old white-washed cottages and traditional granite, slate-fronted Cornish houses, many of which are listed as of architectural or historic importance. On the subject of narrow streets, Port Isaac is renown for having one of the narrowest thoroughfares in Britain, the aptly named Squeezy Belly Alley!The Village of Port Isaac, was frequently used as a 'set' for filming the Poldark series, and 'Nightmare Man' where it was beautifully depicted albeit as a village in the Hebrides! More recently the Port Isaac has become associated with the TV series 'Doc Martin' ( in which Port Isaac was tranformed into the fictional Port Wenn) and the Film ' Saving Grace'.
Boscastle, a picturesque fishing village, is a tiny port with a natural harbour, set in a narrow ravine, and boasts some very attractive thatches and white-washed cottages. With its medieval past and distinctive natural harbour it is one of Cornwall's most romantic places. The coastline around Boscastle is truly exceptional.
