Celebrate local Black-owned businesses at the 6th annual Juneteenth on the Waterfront on Sunday, June 7. Kick off a month of Juneteenth celebrations in San Francisco with a day of delicious food, crafts, and community in the front plaza of the Ferry Building. Savor handcrafted foods and drinks from Black entrepreneurs, shop for local crafts at the In The Black pop-up market, and enjoy fun activities for the whole family. Entry is free and open to the public, with food and drink available for purchase.

Pop-Ups on the Plaza is a series of events celebrating Bay Area BIPOC entrepreneurs, including businesses in Foodwise’s Building Equity program. Pop-Ups on the Plaza is a Port sponsored event brought to you by Foodwise. This program is proudly funded in partnership with the San Francisco Human Rights Commission. Additional support is provided by the Ferry Building.

  • Black Bee Hot Sauce Co.: Garden herb-infused hot sauces

  • Carlyle’s Chicken Wings: Grilled chicken wings (Dry Rub Cajun, BBQ Sweet, Louisiana Hot Honey, and Carlyle’s Mix)
  • Chef Sarah Germany: Hot sauce and pickles
  • Chi Chi’s Kiosko: Puerto Rican breakfast and lunch dishes
  • The Final Sauce: Barbecue sauces, spice rubs, and marinades
  • Gumbo Social: Gumbo, po’ boys, red beans and rice with duck, and frozen to-go gumbo
  • Keep It Simple Juice: Fresh juices and ginger shots
  • Lil’Alijo Catering & Events: Creole-Caribbean cuisine
  • Maldoni’s: Stuffed potatoes with shrimp, chicken, and steak, watermelon drink, and peach cobbler cheesecake

Celebrate Juneteenth in San Francisco

Juneteenth National Independence Day (June 19) is a federal holiday celebrating the anniversary of Black emancipation in the United States. It is honored on the anniversary of June 19, 1865, when freedom from slavery was proclaimed in the state of Texas. Celebrate Juneteenth in San Francisco throughout the month:

  • June 13: Juneteenth SF Freedom Celebration in the Fillmore
  • June 20: Juneteenth Parade
  • June 21: Juneteenth Bayview and Father’s Day Festival
