Pop-up expo Road to Echoes of In*Dependence explores if nations are truly free 50+ years post-independence.
About this Event

2025 confronts us with important milestones and urgent questions. Cabo Verde and Suriname commemorate fifty years of independence. The Democratic Republic of Congo and Ghana fought themselves free from colonial chains in 1960. But these moments demand more than commemoration, they demand critical reflection.

How free are these nations truly? Which colonial structures persist in new forms? And why are so many voices missing from the official narrative, especially those of women who played crucial roles in liberation struggles and the anti-capitalist voices that demanded economic justice?

Decolonization is not a closed chapter, but an echo that resonates through every generation. This installation examines not just history, but also the urgency of the present. Discover powerful archival material and works by artists like Marcel Nonda and Les Adu, who offer new perspectives on freedom and resistance.
