Drop by this free pop-up display in our Reading Rooms. The National Gallery of Ireland has loaned a number of significant artworks to the international exhibition Collaborating in Conflict: The Yeats Family and the Public Arts, at the McMullen Museum of Art, Boston College (1 February – 31 May 2026). The Boston exhibition celebrates the remarkable impact the Yeats family had on cultural life and the public arts in Ireland, and features significant loans from the Gallery’s extraordinary Yeats Archive, including sketchbooks, embroidery and theatre design.
To mark the occasion, the Centre for the Study of Irish Art is hosting a specially curated pop-up display of highlights from the Yeats Archive. Drop into the Gallery Reading Rooms to discover hidden treasures and the rich stories behind familiar Yeats masterpieces, such as Lily Yeats’s exquisite embroidery and Jack B. Yeats’s 1922 silver Olympic Medal. The pop-up display will showcase the creativity of three generations of the Yeats Family, from portrait painter John Butler Yeats (1839-1922) and his four talented children – William, Lily, Elizabeth and Jack – to acclaimed painter and designer Anne Yeats (1919-2001).
Where to find us: The Library Reading Room is located in Room 35 and 36, on Level 3 of the Milltown Wing. Contact the Library and Archive team for more details: 01 6633543 or [email protected].
