Come on out to Philadelphia's Pen & Pencil Club 1522 Latimer Street, on Sunday, October 2, 8pm, for three featured poets: Leonard Gontarek, Daniel Nester, and Anne-Adele Wight.
Poems will be read, books will be for sale, and drinks will be served. After the featured readers there will be an open mic hosted by the Pen & Pencil Club's Bob Zell.
POET BIOS
Leonard Gontarek is the author of eight books of poems, including Take Your Hand Out of My Pocket, Shiva and The Long Way Home published in 2021 (https://a.co/d/2RwaQ8c).
His poems have appeared in Field, Poet Lore, Verse Daily, Fence, Poetry Northwest, American Poetry Review, Joyful Noise: An Anthology of American Spiritual Poetry, and The Best American Poetry (edited by Paul Muldoon). He coordinates Peace/Works, Poetry In Common, Philly Poetry Day, hosts The Green Line Reading & Interview Series, and was Poetry Consultant for Whitman at 200: Art and Democracy. He conducts the poetry workshop: Making Poems That Last.
His poem, 37 Photos From The Bridge, selected by Alice Quinn, was a Poetry winner for the Big
Bridges MotionPoems project and the basis for the award-winning film sponsored by the Weisman Art Museum in Minneapolis.
Daniel Nester is the author most recently of Harsh Realm: My 1990s, a collection of poetry and prose poems published by Indolent Books (https://www.indolentbooks.com/harsh-realm-my-1990s-by-daniel-nester/). His writing has appeared in New York Times, Buzzfeed, The Atlantic, American Poetry Review, Best American Poetry, Bennington Review, Hopkins Review, Word For/Word, Court Green, Love’s Executive Order, and other places. A South Jersey native, he currently lives near Albany, NY, where he is a professor of English at The College of Saint Rose. He is the editor of Pine Hills Review.
Anne-Adele Wight is the author of An Internet of Containment, The Age of Greenhouses, Opera House Arterial, and Sidestep Catapult, all from BlazeVOX. For four years she curated the multi-genre performance series Jubilant Thicket. Her work has been published internationally in print and online and includes appearances in Luna Luna, Apiary, Bedfellows, Oz Burp, Have Your Chill, and Read On 2. She lives and writes in Philadelphia.
