About this Event
Our free Poetry Mic series introduces you to a varied group of talented poets who live in and around Sarasota. Plus, you never know what visiting, well-known poets may drop by the loft! Join us this week as JAMES P. BASTIEN and LUCY TOBIAS share their work.
ABOUT THE POETS:
JAMES P. BASTIEN is a dedicated lover of life whose podcast offers an intimate look into the evolution of his mind and spirit. Shaped by a richly diverse upbringing, he explores the lessons, challenges, and growth that define the human experience. Each conversation is cultivated with curiosity and depth, weaving together art, literature, music, and philosophy to connect with listeners' individual paths, goals, and sense of purpose.
LUCY BEEBE TOBIAS is an award-winning author, travel blogger, illustrator, and photographer. A former reporter with the New York Times Regional Group, she also served as the Authentic Florida expert for Visit Florida.
Her Florida guidebooks include 50 Great Walks in Florida, Circle the Center: Labyrinths in Florida, The Zen of Florida Gardening, and Floating in Florida: 21 Amazing Adventures on Florida’s Hidden Waters.
Lucy is both the author and illustrator of Mary Margaret Manatee: The Adventures of a Young Florida Manatee, a picture book available in English and Spanish. Her memoir, Wednesday Notes, was written during the pandemic lockdown.
She lives in Sarasota with two rescued cats and far too many goldfish thriving in her backyard ponds. Her garden, a work in progress, is a haven for pollinators of all kinds.
Lucy is a member of the North American Travel Journalists Association, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, the Sarasota Butterfly Club, and Sarasota Urban Sketchers.
