Event Information:
Xia Yanbin will share some of his works based on poems about 'night and the starry sky', which come either from myths and legends or reality and are all part of Chinese chorus culture. Combining scores and multimedia, he shows how he presents these sparkling starry pictures in choral music, while playing simple but interesting music clips and conducting in demonstration the esteemed Little Skylark Children's Choir. Xia Yanbin is Vice-President of the Guangdong Chorus Association, President of the Zhuhai Choral Art Association, Director and Associate Professor of Musicology at the Zhuhai College of Science and Technology, and resident composer for the Tiankong Chorus and Star Bright Ensemble. Awarded the National Art Fund four times and the China Literature and Art Fund once, his compositions are performed frequently throughout southern China.
