Poetry & Poses is a two-hour workshop series that blends breath with movement to help writers quiet their minds, relieve tension in their bodies, and let go of writer's block. At the end of each movement and breathwork session, writers of all genres will be given prompts for generating new creative work, which will be adapted from yoga postures and mindfulness philosophies. All levels and bodies are welcome. Please bring a mat, a folded towel or blanket, and something to write with. Chairs will be provided.Emily Hoover is a widely published poet, fiction writer, and reviewer. She serves as a Lecturer of English at Nevada State University. The author of My Mother as a Serrano Pepper (Zeitgeist Press, 2023) earned her 200-hour Kripalu Yoga teacher certification in 2013. She leads gender-affirming, trauma-informed movement, breathwork, and meditation classes, including chair and restorative yoga.
