About this Event
Poetic Memory: A Gathering of Elders expands the longstanding 2nd Saturday Poets series by featuring four elder poets and storytellers whose work reflects lived experience, cultural memory, and community history. The afternoon will also feature open mic sessions. Poets, storytellers, and first-time readers are welcome to share their own voices in an intergenerational creative space.
Held in partnership with The Delaware Contemporary and inspired by the exhibition Black Collage: Aesthetic Legacies, the gathering explores lineage, legacy, and the importance of personal story as living history during this 250th year of the Declaration.
By centering elder artists as cultural witnesses and knowledge-keepers while actively inviting community participation, the program creates a space for reflection, storytelling, and connection across generations.
This program is supported, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. The Division promotes Delaware arts events at www.DelawareScene.com. Promoted in partnership with The Delaware Poetry Almanac.
