About this Event
In advance of Transgender Day of Remembrance (Nov. 20) and in acknowledgement of the increasing risks facing transgender service members in particular, MVA is offering a 2 hour interactive workshop for providers who want to better understand and support gender minority service members. We’ll spend the time developing a shared foundation of knowledge around gender and sexuality, and how they’ve been included or intentionally ignored within military contexts. We’ll talk about the known history of trans military service and uplift transgender leaders and their legacies. Lastly, we’ll spend time actively practicing and discussing how to better serve, support, and protect the minority veterans we work with.
Doors open at 9:30am for breakfast and coffee. Lunch is also provided.
