Join us for our third annual Plein Air Paint-Out in Mellon Park on Saturday, May 30th, & Sunday, May 31st!We’re excited to spend another day capturing the scenic landscapes and details of the historic park that we’re lucky to have right in our backyard!
The plein air painting experience will be guided by artist Tyler Gedman, and Nick Ruble, who will be available throughout the event for questions and advice.
The Paint-Out will begin with a quick informative demonstration from Tyler and Nick, who will offer insights and tips for successfully capturing your perspective through paint, and will culminate with a group review at the end of the day where participants can share their work and experiences from the day.
Previous painting experience is helpful for this event, but not required. Registrants should be comfortable painting mostly independently.
En plein aire is a French expression meaning “in the open air,” and is used to describe the art of painting outdoors. Plein air artists capture the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject by incorporating natural light, color, and movement into their works. PCA&M has offered numerous Plein Air painting courses in its history, and this new event will utilize our Mellon Park campus to celebrate the art of painting outdoors.
