A mother and son, out on a weekend tramp in the bush, are forced to take shelter during a storm. But the hut sheltering them is not a normal tramping hut. As the play unfolds, and hidden family truths are revealed, the tension generated by their strange surroundings fuses with the tension in their relationship to bring the action to a shocking climax.
Elspeth Sandys has published nine novels, two memoirs, two short story collections and a non fiction account of the life of her cousin Rewi Alley of China. During her twenty-five years living in the UK she wrote numerous plays for BBC Radio. Her stage play The Body Politic played to capacity houses at Circa Theatre last year (2024) Her latest novel - A Gap in Nature - will be published in November.
