Mitochondria Gallery is honored to present “Place of Repose II” our culminating group exhibition of 2024. This exhibition completes the year with a thoughtfully curated space where viewers can find a sense of tranquility and restoration. “Place of Repose II” serves as both an invitation and a gentle reminder: first, to live mindfully, with gratitude for the present, and second, to intentionally embrace rest—reclaiming time to renew both mind and body. Through sculptures and paintings, this exhibition explores facets of the human experience.

Reflecting on 2024, we extend our heartfelt thanks for the support that has allowed us to grow as a platform for art from Africa and the African diaspora. “Place of Repose II” encapsulates our commitment to creating spaces that celebrate cultural expression and encourage restorative practices for both artist and viewer.

This exhibition features powerful new works from Alex Peter Idoko, Laju Sholola, Brian Kansiime Lister, Roberto Pare, Odeyemi Oluwaseun, Nduka Ikechukwu, Claude Nizeyimana, and Izere Antoine. Each artist brings unique perspectives and compelling narratives, contributing to a collective journey that celebrates rest and renewal. We welcome you to experience “Place of Repose II,” a moment to pause, reflect, and rediscover the beauty of stillness.
