Discovery Green is helping Houston’s talented musicians and the city’s live music lovers find each other again this fall. Due to popular demand, the Discover Houston Music contest and showcase at Discovery Green is back!Beginning August 1, Houston bands are invited to nominate themselves to play the Discover Houston Music showcase on Nov 15 from 7 – 10 pm during the opening of the Ice at Discovery Green.
Important Dates
Submissions will be open Aug 1 through Aug 31.
Voting on the 40 bands selected for the next round will begin Sep 17 and end Oct 20.
The top three winners will be announced October 25.
Discovery Green and consultant Wonky Power will narrow down the submission list based on criteria including skill, originality, repertoire and presence. Up to 40 bands will be selected to enter the voting round. The three musicians/bands with the most votes will then be invited to play the Discover Houston Music showcase. The band with most votes will receive $1000 for their headlining performance and the two runner ups will receive $500 each.
In addition to playing the Discovery Houston Music showcase, the top three bands will receive a professionally mixed live video of one of their songs performed at the showcase. Plus promotion via a press release sent to Houston media outlets and on Discovery Green and Wonky Power website and social media. Winning bands will also be invited to play a future event at Discovery Green.
