From Napoletana, Siciliana to Romana, pizza is an art that is interpreted in various flavors all over Italy. Each region has its own approach to this classic dish, from the preparation of the dough to the type of oven used to bake the pizza. Travel with us to Rome, Italy’s iconic capital located in the central Italian region of Lazio, to discover Pizza alla Pala, a Roman style of pizza with an oval flatbread that is served on a wooden pala, or “paddle.” This style of pizza is renowned for its thicker, crispy outside, soft and fluffy core, and its complementary toppings which after baked, yields to a soft, fluffy interior for each perfect bite.
