Peter is an Aussie poet on a 2026, New Zealand tour. This is his second feature at Poetry in Motion Wellington and we are very happy to have him back.Born in Melbourne, Peter has been writing poems for 44
years. He writes as clearly as possible and continues to concentrate on portrait poems of real and fictitious individuals, to return the reader’s attention to our human selves which resist generalisation, demographics and predicable behaviour.
His poems continue to appear in literary journals worldwide in English and translation. Peter specialises in giving poetry readings in private houses. From 7 March to 20 April 2026 Peter will be
on a poetry tour of the North Island, promoting his new full-length poetry collection, “Necessary Wonder”, which features portrait poems of real and fictitious people.
As usual, $3-$5 on the door (cash and bank transfers ok), we have an open mic before our feature. If you want to be on the open mic, please show up a few minutes early.
