Pianist Susan Merdinger will be in concert on Sunday, October 2 at 12:15 PM CDT, as part of the Ear Taxi Festival.
She’ll perform solo piano music by contemporary composers Aaron Alter, Elbio Barilari and Ilya Levinson. All three of the pieces were premiered and/or recorded by Ms. Merdinger.

Steinway Artist Susan Merdinger has been internationally acclaimed for her performances, and is particularly noted for her recordings of Schumann, Brahms, and Beethoven. Among her many honors, Merdinger is an Honored Artist of The American Prize and won The Lorin Hollander Award of The American Prize in 2020 for her performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.2 recorded and livestreamed in October 2020, a two-time First Prize Winner of the Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition in Professional Solo and Duo Piano, two-time Gold Medalist of the Global Music Awards, Winner of the Dewar’s Young Artists Award in Music and Winner of the Artists International Young Musicians Competition.
Merdinger’s live performances and recordings have been broadcast worldwide on WQXR, WFMT, BRT-3 (Belgian National Radio), NPR and BBC Television. Her recent critically acclaimed CD American Melting Pot won several major awards (Clouzine International Best Classical Recording Award and a Gold Medal in the Global Music Awards), and and features Aaron Alter’s Piano Sonata and Levinson’s Shtetl Scenes in addition to works by, Elbio Barilari, Morton Gould and Fernando Vazques. Merdinger received her formal education at Yale University, the Yale School of Music, and the Manhattan School of Music. She is on the Faculty of Summit Music Festival in New York, and is Founder and Artistic Director of Sheridan Music Studio, where she curates two distinguished concert series, Music with a View and Blue Skies Concerts.
