Flygirrl's annual event Philly Loves J Dilla is back on Saturday February 1 at Warehouse on Watts! Don't miss a beautiful night of Hip-Hop through the sounds and sights of record producer, composer and rapper - J Dilla. Through DJ's, music, Art, video, merch and more - it's a beautiful celebration of the brilliance of J Dilla.
Philly Loves J Dilla is special for a number of reasons. First and foremost - the music. J Dilla has blessed us with so much incredible music. Like Runnin' by The Pharcyde, Didn't Cha know by Erykah Badu, The Light by Common, Got Till It's Gone by Janet Jackson, Stakes Is High by De La Soul and so, so much more.
Then there’s Ms. Maureen, Ma Dukes. To have her blessing is an honor. She works hard to preserve her son's legacy. I'm thankful she trusts me to be a part of it.
Then - The DJ’s!!! I've been so blessed to work with the best.. The Philly Loves J Dilla line up alone is hefty! We’ve been blessed to have DJ Jazzy Jeff, Questlove, Mike Nyce, Waajeed, Prince Paul, Rich Medina, Pete Rock, Skratch Bastid, Freeway, Mr. Sonny James and more join us to tribute J Dilla. And then there’s the party people.
Out of all of the Philly Loves I produce, this one is the most dedicated when it comes to people who love the Artist and their body of work. Well, it’s a very close tie with Prince, lol. I think Prince may have it but either way - dedicated. I love it! So, after a short hiatus - we’re back! Grab tickets and come celebrate the genius that is J Dilla.
