They first reached the charts in 1990 with the classic rave anthem Chime. A year later, came Orbital’s self-titled debut album, also known as Orbital 1 or the Green Album, released on Pete Tong’s label, FFRR. It was the first of nine top 40 albums, with the highest charting being 1999’s The Middle of Nowhere. They contributed music for films such as The Saint and the 1997 science fiction horror Event Horizon. Orbital split up in 2004, but reunited four years later, then performed on a 20th anniversary tour in 2009.
