This inaugural weekend of international films includes beloved foreign classics like PLAYTIME, BICYCLE THIEVES, and METROPOLIS to rarely screened gems like Argentinian noir, NEVER OPEN THAT DOOR, or the West African satire, XALA.The festival continues on Saturday October 11th with a modern animated film fit for the family-PHANTOM BOY.
From the same team behind the Academy Award-nominated A Cat in Paris, this animated film from Belgium is a superhero mystery set in New York. An 11-year-old boy named Leo is not well, but he gains the power to leave his body as a โphantomโ and assist a wheelchair-bound policeman in taking down a mob kingpin. Visually compelling, PHANTOM BOY is a hand-drawn marvel that blends classic film noir and cubist minimalism to tell a story about the strength and character that it takes to define a hero. The film will be screened with English dubbing to accommodate all ages.
