About this Event
Losing our animal companions can be just as distressing as losing a human you were close with, and yet it’s a kind of grief that often goes unspoken and unsupported in our culture. This gathering is an invitation to share our grief and the joy and love we have for our fur babies in community.
Join Death Doula Addie from Moonlit Moth Doula Services, for a Pet Loss Memorial and Grief Session, where we will come together to honor, remember, and share the lives of the animals who we’ve lost.
We will begin by co-creating a communal altar as a space of remembrance. You are invited to bring any meaningful items that represent your beloved companion: photos, collars, urn, paw prints, flowers, candles, or anything that feels significant to your connection. (All your items will return home with you at the end of the evening).
Over a potluck-style meal, we will share stories, memories, and reflections—speaking their names, recalling their quirks, and holding space for the very real grief that lives in their absence. This is a gentle, open space to be witnessed in whatever you are carrying, whether that’s sorrow, gratitude, love, or even numbness.
Please bring a small dish or snack to share with the group (something simple is more than enough). You’re also welcome to bring your animal’s favorite “people food” as a way of honoring them.
This is a space for tenderness, remembrance, and connection to ourselves, to each other, and to the animals who will always be part of us.
Older kids and teens are welcome.
