Calling all Perth dog owners! From the grooming school that offers Perth’s highly successful, professional pet grooming course, Foundations of Dog Grooming, comes “Groom Your Own Dog: Basic Grooming Workshop for Pet Owners”.
Groom Your Own Dog is a hands-on workshop designed for owners of small to medium dogs (dogs up to 12kg), who want to learn the basics of washing, clipping, and maintaining their pet’s coat to a high standard. This workshop is perfect for those looking to gain practical grooming skills and knowledge for personal use, to not only save money, but strengthen the bond with their furry companion by grooming them from home.

Event Schedule
- Session One: Monday 9 September, 9.30 am registration for a 10 am start, till 3.30 pm - Theory (no dog) at Perth Venue TBC.
- Session Two: Monday 9 September, 5:15 pm for a 5:30 pm start, till 8:30 pm - Practical (with your dog) at Barking Butler Grooming Studio, South Perth.
- Session Three: Tuesday 10 September, 9.30 am registration for a 10 am start, till 3.30 pm - Practical (with your dog) at Perth Venue TBC.
Please bring refreshments for a 30-minute break at approximately 12.30 pm.
Key Learning Areas
Session One: Theory
- Understanding coat types.
- Selecting the right tools and how to use and maintain them.
- Canine behaviour and cooperation techniques.
- Performing nail trims.
Session Two: Practical
- Hands-on learning with your dog.
- Bathing, drying, brushing, and nail trimming.
Session Three: Practical
- Basic clipping, scissoring, and styling techniques for your dog.
Tools and Equipment
- Bring all your own home grooming tools (clippers, brushes, blades, etc.) and a portable grooming table. We will provide information on where to purchase these online before the event if required.
- After registration, you will receive a list of essential grooming tools required for the workshop. Compare this with your existing tools and use our exclusive discount code to purchase any additional items needed.
- Note: Washing and drying facilities will be provided, but other tools will not be supplied.

- Dogs must be 1 year of age or older.
- Limited grooming tables are available for rent at $50 for the two-day course, if needed.
- Bring your dog’s favorite treats and your lunch on both days.
