From the deep south to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Lloyd Price, portrayed by Cedric Neal (Hadestown, Guys & Dolls), changed the sound of a generation.
Born in Louisiana and raised amid the harsh realities of segregation, Lloyd Price defied the odds to become one of the founding fathers of rock and roll. Iconic hits like ‘Personality’, ‘Lawdy Miss Clawdy’ and ‘Stagger Lee’ didn’t just climb the charts – they shattered boundaries.
Price’s music transcended race, inspired generations and reshaped popular culture, being recorded by legends including Amy Winehouse, Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, Little Richard, Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney, and leading to him being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
Following a critically acclaimed run in Chicago, his remarkable story now takes centre stage in London
