A fantastic Friday night at Jamboree with the multiple award winning Perhaps Contraption, a 9-piece circus brass orchestra, with support from the ace genre-bending brass supergroup Southbound!"Part chamber orchestra, part experimental marching band fusing punk, minimalism and big chordal vocals", Perhaps Contraption's intense, exuberant shows won the Haizetara International Street Music competition (Spain) in 2014 and 2015, the judge’s prize at Cirque et Fanfare Festival (France) and Help Musicians Emerging Excellence Award in 2013.
“A complete joy, brimming with energy and circus bravura.” - Just So Festival
The band will play two sets along the course of the night. The first set will feature 'The Journey', a vibrant theatrical experience led by a Deaf contemporary dancer Hearns Sebuado. All lyrics will be interpreted with BSL. Expect a curious, jubilant narrative replete with intricate rhythms, sign poetry, and a healthy dose of hope, celebrating the power of embracing joy, wherever the path may lead you.
The second set will be a classic Perhaps Contraption amplified stage set, featuring songs from their latest release, full of angular art-rock brass and choral vocals!
“A musical monster: exuberant, multivocal, bewitching and disturbing all at the same time. The twisted brass sounds like Steve Reich and Andy Warhol with a Bulgarian women's choir between them, staggering through Oktoberfest – beautiful and dead drunk.” - Buskers Bern Festival, Switzerland
Support on the night comes from the phenomenal Southbound, a genre-bending brass supergroup fusing folk roots with jazz heat and dancefloor energy.
