Inga Melberga (LV)Performance: “From Memories to Fantasies: Meditative walk through Lucavsala”
📍 Lucavsala Gardening Area
📅 Saturday, 30 May
🕢 13:00–14:20
You are invited to a performative, sensory walk through the gardens of Lucavsala.
This is not a guided tour, but a performance unfolding through collective presence and attention. Participants become active listeners and perceivers of birdsong, frogs, water, and distant traffic, alongside textures, smells and subtle shifts in the environment. Walking becomes an act of sensing and imagining.
Lucavsala's gardens form a unique territory within Riga. Developed at the beginning of the 20th century, they are still cultivated by long-term gardeners, while also inhabited by artists and year-round residents. The area hosts a rich biodiversity and reflects the relationship between humans and nature.
For Inga, this place is also personal. She once had a garden here – an attempt at belonging that she eventually had to let go of. This performance moves between memory and imagination, loss and reconnection.
Inga Melberga is an environmental journalist whose professional focus is communication around green living and sustainability, while her personal passion lies in art and creativity.
The performance is part of the Riga Performance Festival STARPTELPA 2026: https://www.rigaperformancefestival.com/festival-2026.
