About this Event
Scholar, musician, and writer Felwine Sarr and Seattle University professor Malick Ndiaye visit the store to discuss two major works of African literature in English translation, Dahij by Sarr and Letters to My President by Ndiaye. These are the first two titles published by Peregrine Press, a new Seattle-based publishing house, founded by Malick Ndiaye and Victor Reinking.
Books by both authors will be available for purchase at the event. This event is co-sponsored by Alliance Française de Seattle.
Felwine Sarr is a Senegalese writer, economist, and musician, and the Anne-Marie Bryan Chair in French and Francophone Studies at Duke University. Widely regarded as one of the most prominent African intellectuals, he is the author of Dahij (2009), Afrotopia (2016), Habiter le monde (2017), and Les Lieux qu'habitent mes rêves (2022).
Malick Ndiaye is a Senegalese essayist, writer, and poet. He serves as an Associate Professor of French and African Studies at Seattle University. He is the author of Altercultures (2011), Un Nègre à Tanger (2013), Temps Divers (2019), and Lettres à un Président Africain (2024).
