About this Event
Join us to celebrate the legacy of Percy Dearmer with a service of Holy Communion in the style of his liturgical guide, The Parson’s Handbook. Drawing on medieval English practice, Dearmer created a style of worship that married the beauty and ceremony of Anglo-Catholic ritual with the traditional words and rubrics of the Book of Common Prayer. While The Parson’s Handbook is rarely used today, its influence remains deeply felt in the high church wing of the Church of England.
We hope you enjoy this sample of historic practice! This service will feature period-appropriate music by the St Mary’s Choir and a sermon by guest preacher Professor Canon Mark Chapman.
Please jopin us for refreshments after the service, including some of our very own St Mary’s beer!
Tickets are not required for this event (feel free to turn up on the day!) but signing up helps us better estimate how much catering we will need!
