About this Event
Weather. We love to talk about it. On glorious days. On soggy days.Or when football games and cricket matches get cancelled.
It's also changing, faster than most of us realise.
Join a local screening of the People's Emergency Briefing in Wokingham, a 45-minute film bringing together nine of the UK's leading scientists and experts. It’s the clearest, plainest explanation there is of how our weather, our food, our health and the places we love, are changing.
If you've never been to the Whitty Theatre, it's a great chance to discover this local hidden gem.
Why come along?
You might have seen the original briefing covered by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times, with appearances from Chris Packham and Deborah Meaden. This is your chance to watch it on a big screen, with your local community, right here in Wokingham.
People who've seen it tend to describe the same feeling afterwards: relief. Relief that someone has finally laid it all out in a way that makes sense, and relief that there's plenty we can actually do about it, much of it already happening on our doorstep.
"What stood out most was the shared tone: frank, non partisan, and rooted in public service. The speakers painted a picture of a country unprepared, but not incapable."

What to expect
A warm welcome at one of Wokingham's best kept secrets, the 45 minute film, and a short, friendly conversation afterwards about what it means for our community and what's already going on locally.
No prior knowledge or expertise needed. If you live, work, eat, garden, walk the dog, play sport, run a business or raise a family in or around Wokingham, this is for you.
Bring a friend, a neighbour, your other half, your grown up kids, your parents. Everyone is welcome.
Tickets
Seats are limited and we want everyone to be able to come, so tickets are free, with an optional Pay What You Can donation (£0 to £10) to help cover the venue.

"Somehow, it's peppered with hope without feeling glib, occasionally witty without being gimmicky, and harrowing without leaving you fully numb. This film's brilliance lies in the simple fact that it is harder to ignore than it is to respond to."
