Join us for an illuminating evening at our Student Voices Symposium presented by University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education's HEARD. This event will take place on May 14th at PennGSE Stiteler Hall, 261(3700 Walnut St., Philadelphia, PA), starting at 4:00 PM with the compelling screening of the Bout Mine I Matter Full Circle documentary produced by the 5 Shorts Project, followed by a panel discussion and reception.
Howard Stevenson, the Constance Clayton Professor of Urban Education and Director of the Racial Empowerment Collaborative, will moderate the panel. He is known for his groundbreaking work in racial stress management and community empowerment.
Panelists include Shameka Sawyer, the creative force behind the 5 Shorts Project and an advocate for community storytelling; Felix Rosado, co-founder of Let's Circle Up, a Graterford-based restorative justice initiative; and Sergio Hyland, a dynamic writer, speaker, and political organizer with deep insights into social reform. The discussion also features contributions from young filmmakers Amir Taylor, Carmelo Whitehead, Dylan Baker, and Cortez Elliott.
