Pearce Quigley is an actor, best known for the highly popular BBC TV comedy dramas Small Prophets and Detectorists, both written by Mackenzie Crook. His other onscreen appearances include the crime drama Showtrial, Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series, The Gentlemen, Happiness, also starring Paul Whitehouse and Johnny Vegas, Death in Paradise, Midsomer Murders, The Thick of It, Prime Suspect 3, Queer as Folk, Inspector Morse and episodes of the sitcom Mandy. He was in nineteen episodes of Detectorists, as the character Russell, and every one of the hairdressing salon-based drama Cutting It, as Eugene Eubank. Pearce appeared in the 2018 Mike Leigh film, Peterloo, and Danny Boyle’s Millions, released in 2004. Playing the lead role of Michael in the recent broadcast of Small Prophets has given him much acclaim and recognition. He has performed in a wide range of theatre productions, such as The Seagull, Journey’s End, Shopping and Fucking, as well as many Shakespeare plays.
Wiliam Nicholson is a screenwriter, playwright, novelist and a director. Probably most known for writing for the big screen, he has received nominations for five BAFTAs and two Oscars, for Shadowlands and Gladiator. The former, based on his own classic play, starred Anthony Hopkins as C.S. Lewis and Debra Winger as his wife, Joy. He also wrote the screenplays for films such as the medieval adventure First Knight, starring Sean Connery, Nell, produced and starring Jodie Foster, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, based on the subject’s autobiography, Unbroken, directed by Angeline Jolie, and Everest. Much of William’s work as a screenwriter is based on real people and true events, including 2022’s Thirteen Lives, about the rescue of a group of children trapped in a cave in Thailand. His most recent film as a director, 2019’s Hope Gap, starred Annette Benning and Bill Nighy. It was adapted from his play The Retreat from Moscow. He has also written sixteen novels, including The Wind Singer and Noble Warriors fantasy series’ and many on the theme of love.
