PDX Jazz presents Student Sessions at AC Hotel Portland Downtown
Spring 2026 features students from Portland State University and Lewis & Clark College. This is a FREE community show.
Sebastien LaFontaine Sánchez
Born and raised in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Sebastien began his bass player journey at the Escuela Especializada en Bellas Artes Pablo Casals, where he studied music. Over the years, he has explored different styles, with a focus on Latin Caribbean genres. His passion for jazz started in high school when he participated in a jazz ensemble under the direction of virtuoso musician Edgar Abraham Marrero for the National Jazz Festival in 2023.
Sebastien has been part of different groups such as Latin Revolution, Ivancito y los Musachos, Mitad y Mitad, and Punto y Coma, collaborating on several singles and with musicians across the island. He is currently studying at Lewis & Clark College, working with professors from the Portland jazz scene.
Through his work with Mitad y Mitad he is bringing more diversity to the local music scene by sharing Latin music from different countries. As he pursues a career in the sciences, he also continues to grow as a musician while staying connected to his roots and community.
To continue with his goal of bringing Latin music to Portland, he presents his Latin Jazz trio with two amazing musicians, Judah Golub and Ben Fisher.
Ben Fisher
Ben is a college freshman from Everett, Washington, and studies piano at Lewis & Clark. They have experience playing piano in many different contexts, including musicals, choirs, and countless jazz jams. Ben’s musical playing is influenced by some of the greats, including Herbie Hancock, Emmet Cohen, and Oscar Peterson.
Judah Golub
Judah is a junior music major at Lewis & Clark College, focusing on electronic music, production, drums, and percussion. He grew up in Los Angeles, playing in several rock, funk, and jazz bands. Currently, it is part of multiple music groups in Portland.
