About this Event
Join us on this visit to White City; an Opportunity Area identified in 2004 for having the potential to provide 7,000 new homes and 2,000 new jobs by 2041, and one of the major and most interesting areas of regeneration and growth in London. It will be an opportunity to discuss the role of universities and knowledge industries as placemaking drivers.
We will hear about White City’s role as an Innovation District as we join Imperial College London’s Sarah Cary, Chief Development Officer White City, as we start our visit at Scale Space – a workspace dedicated to scaleups, with their mission to unlock the potential of UK innovation. A community of venture builders, universities, corporate innovators and scaleup services.
We’ll then head to EdCity, where we’ll meet Rickie Jungman, EdCity Development Director, to hear about their co-location project that is underway – a not-for profit partnership between national education charity Ark and Hammersmith & Fulham Council, providing a new education hub along with affordable homes, an office building and new improved community facilities.
We’ll round off our visit with a wander down to the Television Centre redevelopment where we’ll conclude the afternoon with drinks at The Broadcaster pub. The visit should provide a fascinating opportunity to hear about the learning, successes, and challenges of this transformative development in West London.
