About this Event
PC Robert Smith; The Final Beat
Drawing on the work of historian John Shaw and the heritage group Raids Over York, Smith’s story is uncovered piece by piece from a past that has remained largely silent. Framed by York’s railway history and the shadow of war, the film revisits a night whose consequences still linger.
Through testimony, archival material, and evocative storytelling, the documentary restores Robert Smith’s name to history and confronts the unsettling question of why his sacrifice vanished from memory.
