Seasoned singer-songwriter, Paul Armer and veteran bluegrass musicians Noel Dashwood, Chris Lordand Pete Thomas came together in early 2025 to form The Dawn Chorus. Each known and celebrated
individually, the group have fast established a signature sound involving virtuosic, traditionally-inspired
playing with modern, heartfelt and honest writing that has universal appeal. This is especially evident in
their debut EP, Heartaches and Mistakes, featuring six original tracks written by Paul Armer, arranged by
the band and recorded at Get Real Audio with Josh Clark.
The EP starts with the eponymous number, Heartaches and Mistakes, and establishes a mission
statement – energetic playing, catchy melodies and meaningful lyrics. This theme continues through the
EP, touching on subjects including love, death and longing. Of the final track, Something That Will Never
Be Mine, Adam Clark of the British Bluegrass News writes, “The instrumental interplay between vocal
lines in the verse gives real textural support to the lyrics, and the chorus shines in the rich harmonies that
pepper the whole record.”
Paul Armer & The Dawn Chorus will be celebrating the launch of the EP as the support for bluegrass
billboard chart-toppers, Gangstagrass, touring across the UK from November 19th – 30th. Tickets and
