This course is designed for intermediate to experienced garment makers who are ready to take the next step into pattern design.Over five days, you will draft and refine your own customised pattern — developing the skills needed to confidently create, adapt, and personalise your own designs.
Day 1
* Taking accurate body measurements
* Tapering patterns
* Block tracing
* Adjusting blocks for fit
Day 2
* Creating a toile
* Fitting and refining toiles
* Transferring adjustments back to the block
Day 3
* Adapting necklines
* Sleeve variations and adaptations
Day 4
* Skirt adaptations
* Adding finishes and construction details
Day 5
* Developing a complete design
* Toile creation and refinement
What to bring
* Bodice, sleeve, and skirt blocks (standard blocks available if needed)
* Tape measure
* French curve (pattern master)
* Mechanical pencil
* Coloured pencils or pens
* Fabric marker or pen
* Sewing machine
* Coloured thread
* Fabric scissors or rotary cutter (cutting mats provided)
* Paper scissors
* Pins and safety pins
* Design inspiration (patterns welcome)
* Lunch (fridge available on site)
