About this Event
Workshop Description:
Give your garments new life with creative patchwork! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to mend clothing using fabric patches applied both on top of worn areas and from behind the repair for a clean, durable finish. Whether you love the look of bold, visible patchwork or prefer subtle reinforcement, this class will equip you with the skills to mend with confidence and style.
We’ll explore a variety of techniques—working with both a sewing machine and hand-sewing methods—to secure patches, strengthen fabric, and create visually appealing repairs. You’ll learn how to choose the right fabrics, shape and place patches, and blend or contrast designs to suit your personal style.
Bring a garment in need of mending (denim, jackets, shirts, and other woven fabrics are ideal) and leave with a beautifully patched piece and a set of versatile repair techniques you can use again and again.
You’ll Learn:
• How to prepare your garment for patching
• Methods for attaching patches on the outside for decorative effect
• Techniques for placing patches behind damaged areas for subtle, structural repairs
• Sewing machine methods for secure and neat patchwork
• Hand-sewing techniques, including whipstitch, running stitch, and edge reinforcement
• Tips for choosing fabrics, matching patterns, and designing cohesive repairs
Ideal For:
Anyone interested in sustainable fashion, clothing repair, sewing skills, or creative textile work—from beginners to experienced makers.
Join us and discover how patchwork mending can be both practical and beautifully expressive!
