• Experience the making of a portrait in traditional pastel from Start to Finish
• Learn to see and analyze shapes and edges
• Classes designed for all levels of experience

A special opportunity:
This 6 week class meets just before the Thursday night "Sketch Group" meeting that club members enjoy. As a special offer, anyone taking this class may also opt to participate in this sketch group for free, during this 6 week class! Sketch Group begins with a live model at 7 pm and ends at 9:30 pm . This is a special opportunity to draw from live models to continue your learning experience from your class , if you wish (free option).
The Class Location, will be in the CAC Clubhouse, Wessel Gallery,1021 Parkside Place, Cincinnati, Ohio. This is at the intersection of Parkside Place and Martin Drive at the foot of Mt. Adams and entrance of Eden Park. The Clubhouse is fully air conditioned, has restrooms, a library and a kitchen and bar for programs and exhibitions throughout the year. Feel free to peruse the library books and the many pictures of past presidents and club gatherings. There are photos of famous artists who were members of the Club, such as Rettig, Duveneck, Farny, Barnhorn and Wessel.
Marlene Steele, a 30-year+ experienced, working artist and student of Aileen McCarthy, who was a student of Frank Duveneck, has agreed to teach in the Cincinnati Art Club’s Continuing Education program. Marlene is a member of various art associations including the Portrait Society of America where she served as an Ambassador . She has an established network of contacts across the region and country. She is an alumna of the Cincinnati Art Academy, former Board Member and Vice President of the Cincinnati Art Club, and owner of Steele Studios, a continuously operating fine art studio. Steele’s works are exhibited widely throughout the region and the U.S. Among her many awards and recognitions, Steele was the recipient of the “Individual Excellence Award FY19” from the Ohio Arts Council. The CAC is honored to present this Continuing Education Course.
Workshop Details
• Students are encouraged to use media they are comfortable with, and a suggested materials list will be provided upon registration; and the Club has easels and tarps (required) for the floor for use by the students
• $200 for CAC Members and $235 for Non-Members
• Model fee is included in your registration
• Registration/payment handled through Eventbrite, an online service (Eventbrite.com)
• Deadline to Register is September 2. Deadline for a refund is August 29.
